Rededication of the Private Joseph Francis Park


May 16, 2009- In honor of National Preservation Month, the Preservation Society of Fall River completed landscaping improvements and the re-dedication of the Private Joseph Francis Park. The Preservation Society was joined by V.F.W. Post 486, with assistance from the Fall River DPW, the Parks Commission, and National Grid with more donations from countless others. Both Mayor Correia and Preservation Society member David Dennis spoke and the guest speaker was Lori DeFillipi, a U.S. Marine Veteran and the Veteran Service Officer of American Legion Seicheprey Post 2 (named for the battle where Joseph died).

Recent Preservation Society Events


The Preservation Society has staged events to involve the community in the architectural heritage of the city. The Christmas Victorian House Tour has been our most popular. It was joined last year by a Edgar Allan Poe reading at Halloween, and a series of events in May to celebrate National Historic Preservation Month.
